Announced today at Mobile World Congress, Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Oppo, has a new battery charging technology in the works that it says can take you to 100% charge in just 15 minutes. Sounds crazy, right? It`s called Super VOOC and is currently still in the prototyping stage, as such no new devices supporting it were announced. Equally, it doesn`t seem backwards compatible to existing phones, so it`s going to be exclusive to future Oppo releases. Essentially it`s the company`s take on quick charging, only now taken to a pretty extreme level. The live demonstration took place during the press conference, with the prototype phone being charged entirely in the time the presentation took to deliver. Power is delivered at a consistent 5V, which Oppo says means there`s no additional heat issues to worry about, nor should it impact negatively on the life of the battery inside the phone.
